Among the four who died was a son of a contractor to the World Bank whose father was one of the survivors.
The team members came from Development Dams and Irrigation Scheme in Kaduna State to carry out an assessment of the dam which had long been overdue for turnaround maintenance.
Their boat was said to have
capsized while they were sailing from one end of the dam to the other. Sources revealed that the small boat which could conveniently take four persons was overloaded with seven on board.
According to the sources, the four victims who died in the incident did not wear life jackets while the three others who wore survived the disaster.
